body snark makes me feel like this, basically. I understand that humans in general are uncomfortable in their own skin sometimes, but to so openly snark on someone else’s body just makes your insecurities much more apparent. It also just gets me down.
Reminders.
Save money, spend money, do cooler things. Go back to Chicago and have Rick Bayless’ food your entire trip in between cupcake breaks. Get those tattoos you’ve been needing for the last four years. Clean out the closet you keep shoving things into. No human needs this many bags and totes. Get serious about not taking yourself too seriously. Continue listening to your pop punk, who will stop you? Stop wearing those gross Van kicks forever.

I’ve been listening to these dudes all week.
I am ashamed to say I found this picture on an old myspace blog, since my laptop died along with all my amazing pictures from that era of my life, but hot damn next Friday is THE ESCAPE ENGINE and I can’t be more stoked on life. Whiskey will be had and I am expecting to take a cab back to NYC. It’s disturbing how pumped I am.

Big mouth strikes again.
I’m awkward. I generally do not notice this until hours later, when things I have said throughout the day play over in my head and then I am appalled. Also, when someone asks what I do when I’m not working, I need to have something else to say besides ‘more work!’ While that’s not a lie at all, I need to do something more. Start a small, random supper club complete with a demo? Maybe. I’ll spend my next week in the woods figuring it out.
night diving.
Last night, I headed to old faithful, Noodle Bar. Somewhere we have been eating for over 5 years now. At that time I would do anything to escape school, Rhode Island, New England in general, we would head to the city for the weekend. Walking around the East Village, dragging Brian to try boba for the first time, a man was standing outside a dimly lit restaurant on First Avenue asking us if we were hungry. We are always hungry and the place looked too cozy to pass up. We sat at the end of the table, ordered chicken buns. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. And it’s funny to think about now, since no one needs to stand outside beckoning people to come in. The way I feel about a bustling, loud restaurant is the way I should feel about seeing an old friend. I’m a creep.
